The Kue Lapis Story II

The Kue Lapis Story II

Kue Lapis from a neighborhood bakery in Clementi where my family always buys butter (swirl) cakes. (highly recommended!)

These "no-name" kue lapis, is visibly drier-looking than its famous counterpart from KedaiKueKue, and sadly & very regrettably so, really not nice at all. It's not buttery nor fragrant and naturally no oil stain spied. And not the kind of melt-in-your-mouth of kueh lapis I was looking for, was somewhat dry & "hard". I thought they would be yummy coz the butter cakes are very fragrant & absolutely delicious. (oily good!) What a disappointment.

These are sliced alot thicker though, (& should be much cheaper) than the miserable 0.5cm-a-pathetic-slice KedaiKueKue's kue lapis which cost me $1.30 a nanoslice. Ouch. I'm surprised at the slicer's knife skills actually.

I much prefer KedaiKueKue's. I think I'd rather pay more for good kue lapis.
