"A ray of culinary sunshine": Upcoming Shanghai Restaurant Week lowers dinner price to 168RMB

Photo by Juliu Qiu. Shanghai Restaurant Week - Winter Edition 2011 has made it their mission to bring you a ray of 'culinary sunshine during the cold winter months' and we're not going to lie...this bit of news made us perk up. The next edition of restaurant week, coming at you March 7-13, has dropped their starting price to 168RMB for a 3-course dinner and 78RMB for lunch.

It's only the third installment of restaurant week in Shanghai and every time the week-long binge event comes back, it's at a lower price. It used to be 250RMB for a 3-course dinner, a not so smart move if you're in tune with Chinese culture, which was lowered to 238RMB in September last year. Now, they've done it again. Maybe they heard us the first time? At any rate, we like where this heading.

Their site tells us that "[r]eturning restaurants include The Peninsula’s Sir Elly’s and Yi Long Court, M1NT, Moonsha, as well as the winners of previous Restaurant Week Awards: Palladio and T8" and they'll be introducing some new ones into the mix.

When can you get in on this? The date to keep in mind is February 22nd, 10am - when they start accepting bookings. We hope you've already worked off that Christmas/Chinese New Year's extra padding. Set your calendars!
